Detailed description of the tour
10:00 Meeting. The guide will meet you in the lobby of the hotel with a sign in the hands that shows the name and surname of tourists.
Transfer to Kamakura will take about 1 hour.30 minutes
First stop in Kamakura: The Zen Buddhist temple of Hokokuji is also known as the bamboo temple, which was founded in the 14th century. As soon as you are on the territory of the temple, you will definitely feel the peace and quiet of the landscaped Japanese garden. On the territory of the temple behind the main pavilion, we will slowly walk among the bamboo grove, and go to the tea house, where, if desired, we will order green tea and contemplating the beauty of nature, slowly enjoy this traditional drink. I will tell you about the history of this place and about the tragedy that played out here in the early 15th century, which will give you a full understanding of the mores and laws of the time.
Next, we will move to the coast of the Pacific Ocean, where 500 meters from the beach on the hillside is located one of the impressive temple complexes of Haseder. Due to the fact that the temple is located on the hillside, it is multi-level, which allows you to gradually get acquainted with the deities, each of which has its own corner. We will see: a beautiful pond with carp, look into the cave of the goddess Benzaiten, get acquainted with the merciful Jizo, see one of the oldest bells of Kamakura, look into the library of sutras, where we will twist the rinzo and comprehend wisdom, take a photo against the background of a beautiful Buddhist temple and look inside we will be impressed with the main treasure of the temple - the statue of the goddess Kanon 9 meters high, polished by a monk from a camphor tree in the distant 8th century. From the height of the hill we will admire the landscape of the city from the ocean making memorable photos.
Lunch at the temple in a restaurant overlooking the ocean, where Japanese and European cuisine is presented.
We will walk along the souvenir street leading to the Kotoku-in temple. Founded in the 13th century, the temple is famous for its large bronze statue of Buddha, 13 meters high. We will have the opportunity not only to admire the impressive size of the statue standing in the open air and thus make beautiful memorable photographers, but also to go into the hollow statue, being inside the Buddha.
On the way back, if you wish, we will buy souvenirs and other items exhibited on the shelves of souvenir shops.
Next we will visit the temple of Tsurugaoka Hachiman-gu, built in 1180 by order of the founder of the first shogunate of Japan. Hachiman has long been considered the patron of wars. I will tell you about the era of that time, about the confrontation of two powerful clans in the struggle for power and about the sad love story.
After such a busy day, you will have time to relax in the car (or on the train) on your way to Tokyo.
