When issuing a passport, carefully check all the details: the transliteration of the name, work and study data for 10 years, even Roman numerals in the birth certificate information. Errors or inaccurate information in the questionnaire can lead to refusal.

The name and surname in the passport are automatically transliterated according to the ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) standard, which Russia switched to in 2014. Russian letters are replaced by Latin letters strictly according to these rules.

If you have old documents with a different Latin name (not in ICAO) and want to keep it for uniformity, bring one of them with you when filing:

  • previous passport;

  • birth certificate;

  • change of name document;

  • marriage/divorce certificate;

  • passport of the spouse or parent (for children);

  • residence permit.

Any inaccuracy in the application is fraught with refusal, so double check is mandatory.

Information on the change of name

Include all previous names, names or patronymics. Even if only one item has changed, fill the fields with current data and old ones.

Sources:

  • Certificate of marriage/divorce (for name change).

  • Name change certificate.

  • For children under 14 years of age: repeated birth certificate.

Example: There was Ivanova, became Petrova - specify both names with dates.

10 years of employment (e-application)

Enter periods of work, study, service, unemployment (with residential address). Consolidation, point both.

Check by:

  • Extract from the Social Fund.

  • Electronic work book (ETC) – but add addresses manually.

Do not attach copies of documents.

Filling rules

  • Position: Just like working, no cuts. Different positions in the same organization - separate records.

    • IP: "Individual entrepreneur."

    • Self-employed: "There was no study, job or service" + address of residence.

  • Organization name: Completely.

    • Combination: All seats.

    • IP: The name of the entrepreneur.

    • Foreign company: In Russian or translit.

  • Address:

    • Fully, with an index and a region (even for liquidated firms).

    • IP: Address of registration of the entrepreneur.

    • Abroad: In Russian, with the country and the city.

Example of entry: "Sales Manager, LLC "Romashka", 620000, Sverdlovsk region, Yekaterinburg, Lenin St., 10, from 01.01.2020 to the present time."

How to fill out information about studying in the application for a passport

In the study section, the questionnaire takes into account the entire ten-year period of work, including time in educational institutions. If you combine work and study, specify both facts: the place of work and the educational institution.

Rules for the name of the university or college:

  • Avoid abbreviations and abbreviations.

  • Write the full official name in Russian, as in the diploma, contract or on the university website.

  • Examples: "Federal State Autonomous Educational Institution of Higher Education "Siberian Federal University" or "Madrid Polytechnic University".

Address of the educational institution:

  • For Russian institutions: full legal address with index, region, city and house number.

  • For foreign: in Russian, as detailed as possible (index, country, region, city).

How to specify military service in the questionnaire for a passport

Military post and rank:

  • Write exactly on the military card, without abbreviations: "Private, shooter", "junior sergeant, tank commander".

Unit number, genus and type of troops:

  • Completely, as in military records.

Address of duty station:

  • The legal address of the part with the index, region and city. Provide a known address, even if part is disbanded.

Roman numerals in the series of birth certificates for a foreign passport

In the series of birth certificates (for example, II-South or IV-IK) use capital letters strictly according to the document:

  • 1 = I

  • 2 = II

  • 3 = III

  • 4 = IV

  • 5 = V

The system will not accept Arabic numerals.

When it is necessary to change the passport

Replace the document in these cases:

  • Expired (5 or 10 years).

  • Damage: stains, tears, inscriptions, exposure to water / fire, torn photo, unreadable chip.

  • Change of data (surname, first name, patronymic, date / place of birth) - within 6 months.

Does not require replacement:

  • Replacement of the internal passport of the Russian Federation (by age, loss) without changing the data.

  • The child is 14 or 18 years old.

Consequences of errors in the application for a passport

False information:

  • Refusal to issue + fine + ban of departure up to 1 month.

Mistakes of MIA employees:

  • Free rework for 10 working days (new photo for the old sample, without state duty and documents).

Your mistakes:

  • Registration again with the state duty.
