Art tourism: the festival "Unique Russia"
Detailed route to artistic and tourist places of Russia stretches for decades. But what if we combined the artists into a single space in one multi-biennale to show what the Russian masters are capable of?
For the first time the idea to gather talented masters and artists was embodied in 1831, when the First Manufacture and Industrial Exhibition was held.
It was a success: the Biennale was visited by 125,000 people; it was appreciated by Emperor Nicholas I, who was pleased with the idea and organization.

Over 190 years, the Manufacture Exhibition has developed into an industry of art and decorative and applied arts: in 2021, in Gostiny Dvor, the organizers presented 500 art enterprises and private masters from 40 regions of Russia.
The first exhibition was held immediately after the cholera epidemic. In 2021, in a conditional “post-pandemic” time, visitors were driven by an “information hunger” and partial release after self-isolation. Perhaps the organizers did not expect to see so many visitors in the Gostiny Dvor.
Art tourism in Russia is more than tourism
“Unique Russia” in Moscow carries the unofficial title of the capital of Russian art, expands the boundaries in a constant dialogue in the cross-cultural interregional space, improves interaction with the social narrative, artists, industrialists and talented individuals who need support.
This is another factor why it is still worth coming to the exhibitions of federal significance, even if from afar.
The exhibition is organized by Intellect Invest with the participation of the Foundation for the Development of the Art Industry and Jewelry and Applied Arts.
The festival brought together dozens of exhibition projects
The Foundation for the Development of the Art Industry and Jewelry Arts showed projects dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the Russian Empire. The documentary and art project “Triumph of the Russian art industry and jewelry firms at all-Russian and world exhibitions of the 19th and early 20th centuries” is the full name of the exposition.
The atmospheric spectacle is the kokoshniks of the Torzhok Gold Sewing Workshops, the construction of a temple of the armed forces in the Patriot Park and Russian nature in Andrei Bronnikov’s photo project: visitors have a sense of respect for the country and the beauty of Russian nature, captured by artists.
Eva Nikonova’s Armyart project (expert of the Public Popular Front in the field of culture, ecology and tourism, head of the Modern Art section of the Creative Union of Artists of Decorative and Applied Arts) is the army, art, cultural interaction in the regions.
As part of the festival, an Orthodox exhibition dedicated to the 800th anniversary of the birth of Prince Alexander Nevsky was held.
The authors demonstrated projects of monuments to the Blessed Prince Alexander Nevsky by sculptor Alexei Chertkov “The Holy Family”, sculptor Vasily Moskvitin “Prince Alexander Nevsky and Polotsk Princess Alexander Vyacheslavovna”, a cycle of paintings by the artist Philip Moskvitin, dedicated to the life and heroic exploits of the prince.
The project “Small Pearls of Russia” by Nikolai Rogatinsky is a demonstration of the original architecture of 300 cities of our country: each city is a lyrical narrative about exceptional architecture and people.
“La Vie est Belle” or “Life is beautiful.” Svetlana Diana private museum-galleries - works of pictorial embroidery.
“Molecules of Russia” by Eva Nikonova is the process of creating the genome of a new Russia, where, as molecules, regions make up the unity of the country.

Masters of the creative union “Sergutuu-Revival” at the National Center “Simekh” of Yakutsk of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), members of the Arctic section of the Creative Union of Artists of Decorative and Applied Arts presented a collection “From the depths of centuries” of traditional Yakut clothing of the 18-19 centuries.
The Art-Style project is a collection of national clothes. "ETNOPODIUM" from the Eurasian Association of Ethnodesigners and the Association of Fashion Designers of Russia - a collection of regional designers from the regions: Sakha (Yakutia), Tatarstan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Altai Territory, Crimea, Bashkortostan, Bryansk and Irkutsk regions. The exhibition of the Union of Decorative and Applied Arts "Golden Hands of Russia" was closed.

For jewelers, the II Russian stone cutting championship “Golden Hands of Russia” was organized. The International Fashion Competition of the Year was held.

- Exhibition of the Union of Blacksmiths of Russia;

- interior products of the masters of our days in the artistic processing of wood;
- Exhibition of decorative art "Royal doll";
- All-Russian exhibition of contemporary art "Talent of Russia".
The exposition presented 580 works by authors from 30 cities of our country.
The exposition of abstract art “Abstractum” was held; the all-Russian exhibition of copyist artists “Great Copy”.
The international competition of watercolor painters "Aquarelium" was held; the international competition of pastel artists "Pastelium".
The III All-Russian Exhibition-Fair of Folk Masters, Artists, Designers RusArtStyle presented 450 enterprises, associations, creative unions, and masters, craftsmen, designers from the regions of Russia.
The cultural event became an art event popularizing traditional authentic products of folk art crafts and crafts and modern author’s works of young and talented masters of Russia.
