Provadian plateau on the other side

The most famous object on the Provadia plateau is the fortress of Ovech, lying above the city of Provadia. But in the same area there are many other interesting places: rocks, forests, pagan sanctuaries and numerous rock monasteries and churches preserved from antiquity and the Middle Ages. On our short trip we climb the plateau from the north side. The first point of our campaign is the remains of the Goliamoto Kale fortress and the Thracian sanctuary, which is very close. A magnificent view opens from the cliffs to the gorges and neighboring massifs, towering not far away. After that, we go to another sanctuary and quarry, which existed here later, during the Roman rule. And finally, our final destination is the rock church of St. George, a visit to which will allow you to touch medieval shrines and feel how Christian monks lived. The final is a descent to the village of Petrov Dol along a picturesque hill. In the cold season, a hike in ancient places can be combined with the making of a fire and lunch at his place.
