Budva

Beautiful Venetian cities - Boko Kotor Bay and Oyster Farm

Description:

A trip around the Boko Bay of Kotor is one of the most beautiful excursions in Montenegro, a must-see. You will get acquainted with the rich architectural heritage of the Republic of Venice and marvel at the natural beauty of this bay.

View of the Bay of Kotor

This is the only excursion we take from 14-15 to 22 hours, not in the morning. There are two reasons for this, first the midday heat and second traffic of liners in the bay, which unload several thousand people ashore during the day. In the low season, you can go in the morning or anytime you want.

Liner in the Bay

We depart from Budva along the coast, circle the Bay around leaving Kotor aside. We'll be back there a little later.

The islands are the pearls of the bay

Our first stop is Perast, a small town built by the Venetians in the 15th and 17th centuries. Its inhabitants were engaged in building ships and trading with the whole world. They also took an active part in the formation of the Russian Navy under Peter 1. A little tour of Perast.

Then we take a boat to The Virgin Island on the Reef, which the locals have poured over a hundred years throwing stones into the water.

There we will go to the church and the museum. You will learn all about the history of the island and why it was in this place began to pour it.

Returning to the shore, we will drive further around the bay and can visit the oyster farm, which is located in the village of Rose. There you can swim, swim on a kayak, eat fresh oysters, mussels and fish that will catch with you.

One serving of mussels

There are no white tablecloths on the tables and glass wine beads. The waiter will be dressed only in swimsuits. But you are guaranteed to get the freshest seafood and can participate in the fishing and cooking if you want.

Have fun at the oyster farm.

A few meters from the restaurant there are sunbeds and a kayak. Lunch can be supplemented with swimming and a walk on the sea kayak.

After refueling, we continue our way to Kotor – the most beautiful place of our trip. It is a city with its own charm and energy. Especially beautiful in Kotor in the evening, when the evening lights. We walk through the town in 45 minutes with a tour, and then free time.

The streets of Kotor

You can climb the city wall from where there is a stunning view of the bay. The climb takes about an hour and is 1,350 steps, but it's worth it.

After a walk in Kotor, you can visit a good restaurant. To do this, you will have to walk 5-7 minutes along the embankment from the walls of the old city, because the establishments inside the city are too spoiled by the flow of tourists and do not try to surprise their guests.
