Budva is one of the oldest and most picturesque cities in Montenegro, founded by the Phoenicians and dating back about 2,500 years of history. This seaside town on the Adriatic combines the medieval streets of the old town, a modern promenade and wide beaches, creating an atmosphere where history coexists with resort holidays and dynamic urban life.
Among the man-made attractions are the cobbled streets of the Old Town with fortress walls and ancient churches, the sculpture “Dancer from Budva”, the fortress citadel with expositions and observation platforms, the embankment with a cafe and a yacht port, as well as the Lugovy stadium and local museums. Monuments, ancient gates and cozy squares form a recognizable urban appearance and many points that are worth visiting.
Natural gems of the region include the Slovenian beach, the beaches of Mogren, Jaz and Becici – the most popular coastal areas of the Budva Riviera, as well as the picturesque Budva rocks and numerous bays for swimming. St. Nicholas Island is an uninhabited corner for walking and snorkeling, and the coast and nearby massifs offer beautiful views and yachting opportunities. In the vicinity attract Lake Skadar with the island monasteries of Beshka and Moracnik, as well as the ancient cities of Cetinje and Kotor.
