Tivat

Montenegro: a mosaic of impressions in 8 days. Author's tour"

Description:

Medieval fjords, Adriatic beaches and mountain serpentine.

Imagine a country where an hour from a medieval city on the banks of the fjord you can find yourself on a mountain pass in the clouds. Montenegro is the rich beauty of the Balkans. This tour is your key to its secrets: from the hidden villages on the Bay of Kotor to the ancient olive groves of Bara and the vast expanse of Skadar Lake.

I walked this route myself, driving along the serpentine and the coast to collect a real palette of experiences for you. This is a trip for those who want to see the maximum diversity in one small but incredibly vibrant country.

Why the base in Tivat?

We will live in Tivat - not the most touristic, but the most convenient logistics hub. From here it is close to the airport, and most importantly, it is the ideal starting point for departures to the Boka Bay of Kotor, and along the Adriatic coast.

Your eight-day trip through the contrasts of Montenegro:

Day 1. Arrival in Porto Montenegro.

Arrival in Tivat, check-in at the hotel. The first night is an easy dive. An independent stroll through the glamorous marina of Porto Montenegro, where luxury yachts make noise, is the perfect way to start exploring the country.

Day 2. Secret Secrets of the Bay of Kotor (East Coast).

We leave the crowds of tourists to quiet corners. Climbing the observation deck of Mount Vrmac near the abandoned 1327 cathedral is your first breathtaking view of the entire bay from a height. Then plunge into the atmosphere: the tranquil town of Donja Lastva in the Venetian style, the mysterious abandoned villages of Gorny and Donja Stoliv among the olive groves. We will end the day in the picturesque fishing town of Prchan.

Day 3. Kotor and Perast: classics and romance.

Kotor: Let us challenge the 1350 steps leading to the fortress of St. John. The award is a panorama for which it is worth flying to the Balkans: red roofs, turquoise bay and giant liners. After the descent - wandering through the maze of the Old City, a UNESCO site.

Perast: Colorful town-museum. We will climb to the highest bell tower of Montenegro, and then by boat we will go to the mysterious man-made island of the Virgin on the Reef.

Day 4. From Herceg Novi to the origins: the western shore of the Bay of Kotor.

Herceg Novi: Explore the most “green” and multi-stage city of the bay. Its Old Town is a cascade of stairs, fortresses and subtropical gardens.

Risan: Fast forward to antiquity in the most ancient city of the bay. We will see Roman mosaics - the most important archaeological find of the region, and then walk along the authentic street of Gabel.

Day 5. Adriatic coast: from Budva to sunset in Bar.

Budva: Acquaintance with the famous resort. The labyrinth of the Old Town, the fortress walls and the busy embankment.

Sveti Stefan: Photostop at the visiting card of the country - the island-hotel.

Bar: Contrast finale. A giant 2,000-year-old olive and the powerful, green ruins of Old Bar. We will meet the sunset, looking at the Adriatic from the ancient walls.

Day 6. Road to Heaven: Mountains and the First Capital

A trip along the dizzying Lovchen serpentine to the national park of the same name. A visit to the Mausoleum of Njegos on one of the peaks of Mount Lovcen is a place of power overlooking mountainous Montenegro. Descent in Cetinje is the old capital with its colorful “Arbat”, palace-museum and atmosphere of the XIX century.

Day 7. Skadar Lake and Albanian color.

We drive along the largest lake in the Balkans. We stop at picturesque observation decks, watch birds and monasteries on the water. Visit Ulcinj - the southernmost city of the country, the center of Albanian culture with a powerful fortress and a special oriental flavor.

Day 8. Wild peninsula of Lustica: lighthouses and forgotten villages

The final chord is an exploration of the untouched peninsula. Walk along Lustica Bay to a lonely lighthouse. Visit to the stone village of Krasici. And an acquaintance with the amazing dew - a tiny wooden settlement lost among the pines, where time has long stopped.

Key features of the tour:

• Checked out: This route is the fruit of my personal experience of traveling on Montenegrin roads. I compiled it myself and passed it to show you how different Montenegro can be: fjords, sea, mountains, lake, ancient architecture.

Freedom on wheels: We will live in Tivat and explore the country on a rented car. This gives maximum flexibility and mobility. Would you like to drive? We organize a transfer with a driver or individual excursions.

The perfect framework for your ideas: The route is a great foundation that can be changed.

Do you want more mountains? Add a trip to Durmitor National Park.

Are you interested in the neighboring culture? It is easy to include a sortie in Bosnia and Herzegovina (Mostar, Trebine).

Do you need more beach days? We will replace any day with a holiday on the best beaches of Lustica or the Budva Riviera.

What do you get?

Detailed plan with coordinates of observation platforms for each day.

My personal recommendations for taverns with the best fish, cafes with views and authentic restaurants.

Assistance in the selection and booking of a hotel and a car.

• Maintenance during the entire trip.

Cost of the tour:

The final price is formed individually after consultation. The main factors: season, hotel category and type of rental car, the composition of the group, as well as your wishes to change the program.
