Copenhagen

3 royal castles in 1 day

Description:

Ancient castles against the background of colorful nature, intertwined with the history and legends of these places, magnificent interior decoration and, of course, pleasant walks in the parks - this is what awaits you during our journey through the Viking Land to the royal castles of North Zealand.

Its beauty, decoration and significance in the vicinity of Copenhagen are famous: Frederiksborg Castle, which is located in the Hillerod district, the royal residence of Fredensborg in the town of the same name 30 km from Copenhagen and the Hamlet castle of Kronborg, in the town of Elsinore (Danish Helsinger). All three castles are located in such a way that you can visit them in one day if you wish. What I, your guide to Viking Land, suggest you do.

The first point of our trip is the luxurious Frederiksborg Castle, made in the style of the Dutch Renaissance. Frederiksborg Castle is not just a castle, it is a living Danish history. The museum exposition is built on a chronological principle and reflects events from the history of Denmark from 1200 to the present day. In each museum interior, portraits, historical paintings, works of art and furniture are interrelated in time.

After examining the decoration of the castle and learning about its secrets and stories, we will definitely look into its Baroque park with fountains, water channels and royal monograms lined with flower bushes. Beautiful nature, wild ducks swimming in the lake, paths around the pond and secluded corners in a beautiful well-groomed park - all this, without a doubt, appeals to romance and will not leave you indifferent.

Full of inspiration from a walk in Fredericksborg Park, we will race in the spring - the autumn royal residence of Fredensborg. It is a beautifully preserved Baroque castle with a wonderful park and prominent guardsmen in high furry hats. Fredensborg Castle is an active royal residence, and getting there is more difficult than other places. The best time to visit Fredensborg is July. In the remaining months, the entrance is limited, but you can watch the change of the royal guard, visit the palace park with many mysterious sculptures, along the paths of which the Queen herself and her family walk, and also look into the palace greenhouse, which supplies fresh vegetables and fruits to the royal table.

The third castle today is, after the Little Mermaid, the most popular place in Denmark - Kronborg Castle, known as the place of Shakespeare's tragedy Hamlet. In fact, Shakespeare may never have been to Denmark, but this did not prevent him from describing the castle in such a way that 200,000 tourists come here every year.

The royal chambers, the castle chapel, the dungeons, the shooting guns, the gloomy beauty of Shakespeare’s tragedy and the casemates, where the hero Holger the Dane sleeps endlessly while Denmark is not in danger, all this attracts tourists from year to year. We will walk through the royal chambers, remember Shakespeare’s tragedy, admire the Swedish shores of the city of Helsingborg, to which there is literally a hand.

Features of the excursion: one of the most interesting and memorable excursions for the whole day. You will have to walk a lot, get acquainted with the legends of Danish history, see and learn a lot of interesting things from the life of the royal family. The tour will be interesting primarily to all lovers of history and unusual architecture, as well as all those who love active recreation and nature.
