Architectural Copenhagen
Description:
Copenhagen is not only a city with a high standard of living, where the happiest people on Earth live, but also a city of contrasts: a city in which bicycles are 5 times more than cars; a city where drugs are sold next to the Danish Parliament; a city where no one recycles, but everyone has enough money; a city where modern architecture is organically woven into Danish history and harmoniously looks next to architectural solutions 400 years ago.
I invite you on a trip to Copenhagen. We will visit the area of modern architecture Ørestad, where we will see the buildings recognized by the results of 2008 and 2010 as the best on the planet in the framework of the World Architecture Festival, where annually about 700 projects from around the world compete in various categories for the right to be named the best on the planet.
We will look at an area that 16 years ago was not on the map of the city, we will visit the center of Danish trade, a kind of Danish Manhattan, and we will begin our tour at the building of the Danish media – DRbyen, for this is where everything for the Ørestad district once began. Here we will talk about the conditions under which the project of “Danish Manhattan” was born, what guided the city authorities and what were the priorities in the 80s, how it was possible to combine business architecture with housing, how the center of Danish business life turned into an area of experimental architecture and who was awarded the Pritzker Prize, analogue of the Nobel Prize for achievements in architecture.
Then we will take the subway and go to the very center of the Ørestad district, where we will look at the first industrial and office buildings of the area; see the largest shopping center; the best housing project in the world in 2010; get acquainted with the automated library, open 24 hours a day and visit the experimental gymnasium with a futuristic design, a vivid example of traditional study, self-awareness and independent work, where there are practically no classes and students are left almost to themselves.
Our last stop will be to get acquainted with the creations of the Danish company BIG, building unusual architecture around the world. Here, this company was noted by the VM house, made in the best traditions of Danish openness and transparency, in which everything and everything is in plain sight, as well as the house of the Mountain or, as it is also called, apartments - gardens, a project that was recognized as the best world architectural solution in 2008. Here, we will visit the largest hotel in Copenhagen, where from an altitude of 80 meters we will enjoy the view of the Ørestad district, and in good weather we will see the bridge running from Denmark to the Swedish city of Malmo, talk about the future and present of the Ørestad district, the people who live here, as well as other aspects that, in addition to architecture, make Copenhagen a truly unique city.
The tour will appeal to all lovers of unusual architecture and beautiful cityscapes. You will see the area of experimental architecture, take a ride on the best metro in Europe and learn what makes Copenhagen such an unusual and unique city.
