"To be or not to be?" - Journey to Hamlet Castle
Description:
Excursion to Hamlet Castle – Kronborg, a symbol of the power and greatness of the Danish crown in the Renaissance.
The history of this castle-fortress begins in the early Middle Ages and the place for it was chosen perfectly. The original building was created without frills, but the touching love story of the Danish monarch turned the impregnable fortress into an elegant castle, so beloved by Shakespeare.
Known worldwide as Hamlet Castle, Kronborg crowns the coast of a narrow strait between Denmark and Sweden. From a distance you can see its sparkling spires, towers and columns with copper roofs.
The castle has a 600-year history and is included in the UNESCO Heritage List.
During the trip you will get acquainted with the history of the Danish monarchy and modern Denmark. The route to the castle is about 50 km, along a picturesque coast with expensive villas, mansions, yacht clubs and parks along the Oresund Strait overlooking Sweden.
In the castle you can fully feel the atmosphere of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, get acquainted with the history of the Danish monarchy and visit the sleeping Danish giant in the cellars-dungeons.
A country trip can be a great addition to a sightseeing tour in Copenhagen or combined with a visit to the Frederiksborg Castle Museum and the current residence of the Queen – Fredensborg Castle.
