Canal tour by boat hop on hop off, Copenhagen
Description:
Did you know that...
There are more than 400 islands in the Danish kingdom, but only 75 of them are inhabited.
The largest island in the world, Greenland, is also part of the Danish kingdom.
The length of the coastline of all the Danish islands is more than 7,300 km, which is equivalent to the distance from Copenhagen to Florida.
Rivers, canals and lakes have always played a key role in the life of Copenhagen, both for defensive purposes and in matters of navigation, shipbuilding and trade. From the water, the city always looks different, so we invite you to take a sea trip along the canals of the capital of the Danish kingdom for there is no better way to feel the charm of Copenhagen, as under the dimensional rocking of the boat, watching hundreds of years of history fly past you, captured in architecture and urban landscapes.
Our tour begins with your tour of the statue of the militant Bishop Absalon, the founder of the city of Copenhagen. From here we will go to buy tickets for the boat hop on hop off, which will travel along the waterways of the Danish capital. During the tour, we will dive into medieval Denmark, learn about how a small fishing village of the 12th century turned into a large shopping center, as well as about the Hanseatic League, envious of the prosperity of Copenhagen, about the kings of the Middle Ages, each of whom left his mark on the formation of the image of the Danish capital on the example of the Christianhavn district, the Nyhavn embankment, the residence of Amalienborg and other places in the city.
We will not ignore modern Denmark, we will learn who the Danes are, why they are considered the happiest nation on the planet, what the Danish kingdom looks through its fingers, and what can not be categorically done, how strong the institution of monarchy and what powers the Queen has, what modern Denmark earns and what awaits Copenhagen in the foreseeable future.
We will finish our tour on the island of Slotsholm, where all the power in the Danish kingdom is concentrated, a place where numerous ministries are located, Christiansborg Castle, the working residence of Queen Margaret 2nd, the Danish Parliament, the Supreme Court and the oldest Stock Exchange, the spire of which is oval with the tails of 4 dragons twisted in a spiral.
