Copenhagen for beginners - express tour of a happy person
Description:
I don’t know what brought you to Copenhagen: cheap airfare, curiosity, love of delicious beer or nostalgia for childhood and fairy tales of Andersen. But the fact that you came to one of the unique capitals of Europe, I know for sure. During our 2-hour walk we will visit almost all the interesting points of the city, both in the central, historical and tourist parts. I hope that after our walk you will understand the recipe for happiness of the Danish kingdom and understand why people living here are considered the happiest nation on the planet.
Our journey begins at the Town Hall Square in the heart of Copenhagen, where we will get acquainted with modern Copenhagen. On the one hand, the Danish capital is rightfully considered the pearl of Scandinavia, but on the other hand, it is a city of contradictions where light drugs are traded at a distance of a kilometer from the building where the Danish Parliament sits; a city where traffic jams almost never occur and the number of bicycles is 5 times higher than the number of cars on the streets; a city where people pay one of the highest taxes in the world and at the same time rejoice in it; here a sandwich made a cult, but nevertheless Copenhagen is the gastronomic center of northern Europe.
Then we will walk to the historic part of Copenhagen, where everything once began for this city. We will see the place of public executions, the oldest fountain in the city of Caritas, the monument to the Reformation, after which all Danes turned from Catholics into Protestants, the building of the University of Copenhagen, the oldest Regens gymnasium, where students from the poorest strata of the population settled, the Round Tower, the Post and Telegraph Museum.
And here we stand in front of the Parliament building, the political heart of Denmark. Here we will dive into the history of the Danish kingdom, talk about the founder of Copenhagen, Bishop Absalon, get acquainted with underwater sculptures and legends of ancient Scandinavians, as well as learn what makes Copenhagen such a unique city in relation to other world capitals and why people living here have been recognized as the happiest nation on the planet for the past few years.
Admiring the statue of Absalon, the building of the Exchange, the Parliament, the Church of St. Nicholas, we will continue our journey along the longest pedestrian street in Europe - Stroget to the Royal Square and the Nyhaven embankment, the tourist mecca of Copenhagen. Here we will dive into the Middle Ages, learn about the circumstances under which Denmark became one of the largest sugar exporters in Europe, without having its own sugar production; remember the storyteller Andersen, who loved to live on the Nyhaven waterfront; talk about the royal family and interesting facts of the relationship between Denmark and Russia, which today is more than 500 years old.
Features of the excursion: If you love legends, beautiful, urban architecture, want to learn the recipe for happiness of the Danes, visit the key points of the city in the company of a person who has lived in the capital of the Danish kingdom for more than 10 years then this excursion is for you. The tour is perfect for everyone who came to Copenhagen for the first time, as well as all those who want to see and hear as much as possible in the shortest possible time.
