"Sea Copenhagen" - tour of the canal on a river tram

Description:

Now that you are in Copenhagen, welcome! From now on you are an honorary islander, for Copenhagen is located on the island of Sheland (Danish: Sjælland), the largest island of the Danish kingdom. In total, there are more than 400 islands, with a coastline of more than 7,300 km, which is longer than the Great Wall of China. Therefore, water, rivers, canals and lakes have always played a key role in the life of the city both for defensive purposes and in matters of navigation, shipbuilding and trade.

Do you want to experience something unusual? Then, instead of a tourist boat, I suggest you take a ride on the river boat “Havnebus”, which, in addition to the main attractions of the city, will show us the unusual places of Copenhagen, hidden for most tourists. Come to the house of the Actor on the popular waterfront Nyhavn (Dan. Nyhavn), where our sea journey will begin.

From the water, the city looks very different and during a 2-hour excursion you will see much that you will not see when walking around the Danish capital. I will tell you the story of Bishop Absalon, who founded Copenhagen, how a small fishing village of the 12th century turned into a major trading center, about the Hanseatic League, envious of the prosperity of Copenhagen and about all that makes this city so unique and unforgettable.

During the tour along the canal, we will visit the island of power Slotsholmen (Danish: Slotsholmen), where all power is concentrated in the Danish Queen, the place where numerous ministries are located, Christiansborg Castle, the working residence of Queen Margaret 2nd, the Danish Parliament, the Supreme Court and the oldest Stock Exchange, the spire of which is oared by the tails of 4 dragons twisted in a spiral.

We will see the old brewery of the most popular king in Danish history Christian 4th, the royal library "Black Diamond", swim past the embankment of Icelands Brygge (Date. Islands Brygge), one of the most popular beaches of urban type, where in good weather the apple has nowhere to fall and, see a place where locals swim in the city canal, a pedestrian bridge, a house on the water, an elite district of Hauneholmen (Date. Havneholmen), as well as houses built on the basis of silos towers - an extra apartment.

The boat will take us to a new neighborhood, Sluseholmen, whose architects were clearly inspired by Venice. The area is literally permeated with multiple canals. From many apartments you can go directly to the water, many people park boats right outside the houses. Bridges are thrown between the houses and it seems that in the summer people from their apartments dive directly into the canal.

On the way back, we will talk about modern Denmark, find out who the Danes are, why and why they are considered the happiest nation on the planet, how it happened that people who pay one of the highest taxes in the world have nothing against it, what the Danish kingdom looks through their fingers, and what categorically can not be done, how strong the institution of monarchy and what powers the Queen has, what modern Denmark earns and what Copenhagen expects in the foreseeable future.

On the way back we will see with you the area of Christianshavn (Dan. Christianshavn), built by King Christian 4 m on the water, fort "3 crowns", the bulk island of Holmen and the building of the new Royal Opera, the palace complex Amalienborg and the marble church, the promenade of Langelinie and warships of the past.

We will leave the river tram near the fortress of Castellet, built in the form of 5 coal stars by King Christian 4 m in the first half of the 17th century, where we will visit the only Anglican Church in Denmark, learn the history of the creation of Sheland Island, on which the city of Copenhagen is located and why there are so many Japanese cherry trees in the Danish capital. We will end our journey at the Little Mermaid, the symbol of Copenhagen, who looks sadly at the tourists around her, as if she is sad to part with them, but, nevertheless, she hopes to see them again in the future.

Features of the excursion: a boat ride on the water is the best rest after a walk around the city. The gentle wind, passing landscapes, unusual architecture, fascinating urban stories – this is unusual and informative and will undoubtedly appeal to everyone who wants to look at Copenhagen in a new way.

See you in Copenhagen!!
