Sightseeing tour of Copenhagen by car

Description:

“Architecture is the expression of morals,” said Honore de Balzac, and I completely agree with him. I invite you to explore the architecture of Copenhagen and discover a beautiful city where modern buildings are built next to the architectural solutions of 400 years ago, where nothing seems to be able to restrain the power of engineering, the pressure of time and the onslaught of construction technologies, ultimately embodied in concrete, glass and metal structures.

The architecture of Copenhagen pleases the eye of both a simple layman and a professional architect or designer. There are a lot of masterpieces of architectural thought and I suggest that you use a car for the speed of movement.

We will begin our journey with the symbol of Copenhagen – the Little Mermaid, who has been sitting on the Langlinier embankment for almost 100 years. After getting acquainted with the main symbol of Copenhagen, we will again get on the car and rush towards Churchill Park, which is next door, where we will find the story of the creation of Sheland Island, on which Copenhagen is located, a meeting with the new Royal Opera and the Anglican Church of Sant Albany.

After enjoying the landscapes of the embankment, we will go towards the winter royal residence of Amalienborg. Here we will learn the history of the reign of Frederick the 5th, get acquainted with the royal guards, and consider the most magnificent church in Copenhagen - the Marble Church, and, if we are lucky, we can see what the Orthodox Church of Alexander Nevsky, located nearby, is like.

Our next stop will be one of Copenhagen’s most expensive neighborhoods, the New Harbour (Nyhavn), a place that falls on all postcards about Copenhagen. Here we will learn the history of the creation of this area, as well as visit the house in which the storyteller Hans Christian Andersen once lived.

Near the New Harbour area begins the historic city center, where we will go. During the next stop, we will learn the history of the creation of Copenhagen, visit one of the most popular tourist places – Amager Square, get acquainted with the political heart of Denmark – the Christianborg Palace, the Supreme Court building and the Torvaldsen Museum, find out who gave the green light to the Danish constitution, who built the exchange building, and what underwater sculptures in the city canal mean.

After making a small turn along the city streets, we will arrive at a place where the pedestrian street is divided by two squares. It was here that the scaffold was located in the Middle Ages, it was here that criminals served their sentences, there was an earlier building of the city hall and here you will find the story of Copenhagen of that time. After talking about history, we will return to our days and get acquainted with the main cathedral of the city of Copenhagen, built in the style of neoclassicism – the Church of Our Lady.

And here we have the City Hall Square - this is where our last stop will be. We will see the founder of Copenhagen – Bishop Absalon, learn the history of trumpeters playing on the bowels, get acquainted with the great storyteller Andersen and the Tivoli entertainment park, learn where the zero kilometer is and what Stroget pedestrian street is and why it is so called.

For lovers of unusual architecture, we have an extended version of the sightseeing car tour, including a visit to the area of Ørested (Danish Ørested) - experimental and unusual architecture, whose buildings in different years were recognized as the best on the planet. Here is the house of eight, the largest exhibition complex in Copenhagen Bella Center, the largest hotel in the form of a dancing couple, the house of the mountain, the center of the Danish masses - a media, an experimental gymnasium and the largest shopping center in the city of Fields. Having visited the area of Erestad you will see many unusual architecture and learn the history of its creation.

The next stop will be Christianhavn, home to the hippie dream come true, Christiania, an iconic place where words about equality and fraternity aren’t just words, they’re backed up by a fair amount of marijuana that’s freely sold and smoked everywhere. This is the underground of Copenhagen, where the strangest representatives of the Danish capital live. The place is intriguing, attracting tourists like a magnet, but for many it is not acceptable and understandable!

Features of the tour: since we will move by car we will be able to see more and at the same time do not get tired. This is an author’s tour, during which you will visit the most interesting houses and architectural structures of Copenhagen, as well as learn interesting facts from the history of their creation.

Who will be interested: the tour is suitable for all lovers of design, unusual architecture, as well as all those who want to get acquainted with the city in a very short time, regardless of the weather.
