Rundet Tower & #229 rn

Kø bmagergade 52A, 1150 Kø benhavn, Denmark

Description:

The Round Tower is located in the heart of Copenhagen and is one of the most unusual sights of the Danish capital. It was built in the seventeenth century on the initiative of King Christian IV, who wanted to have his own observatory. The building is part of the ancient Trinitatis scientific complex, which also houses the chapel of the Copenhagen University, the Trinitatis Church and the academic library.

Today, the Round Tower is one of the observation decks, which is located at an altitude of 35 meters. In the railings of the observation deck is encrypted the motto of the king. Court artist Caspar Fincke encrypted three Latin letters of RFP in complex metal curves, which mean "Regna Firmat Pietas - By piety the power is strong."

The tower is very popular due to its unusual way of climbing. There are no stairs, and instead of steps, a continuous spiral corridor leading to the top is installed. It is more than 200 meters long. Climbing it is quite unusual, so it is better to move on the outer, gentler side.
