Fredericksborg Palace

Frederiksborg Slot 11, 3400 Hiller d, Denmark 55 mH

Description:

In the town of Hileröd is located Fredericksborg Castle. The castle preceding Fredericksborg was built in 1560 by King Frederick II. Forty years later, a large-scale reconstruction was carried out, after which the completely renovated castle was named after the father of Christian IV - Fredericksborg.

Between 1671 and 1840, all Danish monarchs were crowned in the chapel of Frederiksborg Castle. In December 1859, a terrible fire occurred in the castle, which burned almost the entire structure. Immediately after the fire, reconstruction of the castle began. In February 1882, the reconstructed palace-museum was opened to everyone.

Visitors are waiting for several thematic halls and a huge number of unique exhibits. Of particular interest are the Small Knights Hall and the Great Knights Hall.
