Trekroner Fortress

Trekroner Fort, Sunket Havnerundfart, Kø benhavn, Denmark

Description:

Trekroner Fortress is one of three sea fortresses that were built on islands located near the entrance to the city port. All have been partially restored over the years. The history of Trekroner Fortress, whose name translates as "Three Crowns", began in 1786, when it was built in Copenhagen Bay to protect against attacks from the sea.

The once powerful fortress stood abandoned for many years, until in 1984 the local department of culture bought it for just three crowns. Modernization and restoration work was carried out, during which it was possible to restore bastions, casemates and some other buildings. In addition, there was a small cafe, as well as observation decks, which offer a magnificent view of the sea distance. You can get here on a small boat that runs with a frequency of 40 minutes.
