Churchill Park
Churchillparken, 1263 Copenhagen, Denmark
Description:
Churchill Park, located on the northern outskirts of the city, is one of the largest and most beautiful parks in Copenhagen. It stretches around the earthen fortress of Castellet with bastions, which was built in the XVII century to protect the city from the north.
Churchill Park is full of interesting sights. Here is the church of St. Alban, erected on the occasion of the wedding of the Princess of Denmark and the future King of England Edward VII. There is also a fountain depicting the Scandinavian goddess Gefiona, with whom according to legend, the separation of Denmark from Sweden is associated. In the coastal part of the park you can find the famous mermaid. And of course, you can not ignore the monument to Winston Churchill, which adorns one of the alleys. The bust of Churchill was erected in gratitude for the help provided by Britain during the Second World War.
