Monument to Bishop Absalon
Description:
The monument to the founder of Copenhagen – Bishop Absalon – was erected in the square near the Church of St. Nicholas in 1902. The merits of this priest to the Danes cannot be underestimated. Being not only a priest, but also an adviser to the Danish rulers, Absalon was also engaged in diplomatic activities, as well as building citadels and forts. One of these forts was built on the site of the modern capital of Denmark – Copenhagen.
