Amager Strandpark Beach

Jollevej, 2300 Kø benhavn, Denmark

Description:

Amager Strand Park is a seaside public park in Copenhagen. Mostly it is located on the island of Amager, on the side of the Øresund Strait, but includes several artificial islands. In addition to the park, there is a snow-white sandy beach with a length of about five kilometers. This is one of the few places in the city where you can swim all summer. The beaches of Amager Strand were even awarded the UNESCO Blue Flag Award for cleanliness and ideal conditions for recreation.

The park was established in 1934 on the shore of a natural lagoon. In 2005, an artificial island with a length of about 2 kilometers was created, which can be reached by one of three bridges. The beach itself Amager Strand is divided into two parts. On the north side there is a small sandy shore, and on the south side there is a spacious area for picnics and playgrounds. Throughout the coast there are different areas for swimming - shallow water for children and a small pier for pleasure yachts.

On the territory of the park and the beach, it is allowed to make bonfires, but on the territory of Amager Strand, tourists are constantly monitored. Far from the shore, you can find sports grounds and small outdoor scenes for outdoor concerts.
