The place where the shopping center is located has historically been associated with trade. Between 1953 and 1999, the city’s fish market was located here. The name Fisketorvet comes from the name of the fish market. For more than forty years, fish traders have gathered at the site every morning to assess the catch and make a deal.
The building of the Fisketorvet shopping center was designed by famous Danish architects who created it in the form of a huge stylized ship focused on the port of Copenhagen. Each floor is made in the form of decks, in the center of one of the halls stands a fantastic glass pyramid, in which there are numerous cafes. Another area is completely reserved for restaurants. The mall also has a stage, which often hosts various performances and events.
