Rosenborg Castle and Its Treasure

Ø ster Voldgade 4A, 1350 K benhavn, Denmark 111 m

Description:

On the outskirts of Copenhagen is a castle called Rosenborg. The history of the castle begins in 1606 - then a park area was founded, on the territory of which later a small two-storey mansion appeared. Over the next twenty years, the mansion grew to incredible sizes, and from a small “dacha” turned into a real chic castle.

The main entrance to the castle was completed only by 1634 - its opening was timed to coincide with the wedding day of Prince Frederick III with Princess Magdalena Sybilla. Since 1838, the Royal Museum has been operating in Rosenborg, unique exhibits of which tell about the 300-year history of the Oldenburg royal dynasty.

Rosenborg surrounds the magnificent Garden of Kings. The castle also has a royal treasury that houses Rosenborg’s most precious relics.
