The National Museum of Denmark is the largest museum of cultural history, opened in 1892. It is located in the palace, which was built by the architect Nicholas Eigtved in 1743 for the monarch Frederick V.
In the museum you can see the exposition dedicated to the prehistoric and early history of Denmark, the ethnographic collection “Peoples of the World”, which presents weapons, clothing and household items of African tribes, American Indians and residents of ancient China and India.
Visiting the exhibition of the early Middle Ages, you will learn a lot about the life and life of the Vikings. The ethnographic collection deserves special attention, where you can see household items of Greenlandic Inuit, residents of Oceania, Amazonia, East Asia and Mexico.
