Kastrup Airport
Description:
Kastrup is the largest airport in Denmark and the seventeenth largest in Europe. It is located in the area of Tornby on the island of Amager. The airport was built in 1925 and has undergone several changes over the decades, allowing it to receive more than 20 million passengers annually. Kastrup regularly serves 63 airlines and directs its aircraft to 111 locations around the world.
The airport has three main terminals. The first receives domestic flights, while the second and third are for international destinations.
The architect of Kastrup was Wilhelm Lauritzen. Terminal 1 was built in 1969. It consists of seven adjacent pavilions, called "seven small houses". The construction of Terminal 2 was completed in 1964, and on this occasion Castrup received a new emblem "Four Winds". Terminal 3 was built in 1998. You can get into it on the Copenhagen metro on the second line. Terminal 3 differs from the rest of the architecture of Kastrup - it is made in the form of a wing designed by modern architect Wilhelm Lauritzen.
