Serapeum Temple

Karmouz, Sharia Amoud ei Sawari, Alexandria, Egypt

Description:

The sanctuary of Serapeum was in Alexandria and timed to the creator Serapis.
In this religious edifice there was an image of a lord who united the features of Apis and Osiris in the form of an ordinary man.

There used to be a number of such holy spaces, any of which was called the Serapeum.

In Alexandria, the temple was built by Ptolemy III, who ruled in the 3rd century BC.

Serapeum was revered as a more graceful and huge temple.

The cathedral was inhabited by the 2nd book depository of Alexandria, in which photographs of phrase combinations from the foundational Library of Alexandria - the Museyon vault were preserved.

In 391 CE, the Serapeum and its book depository were destroyed.
