Alexandria Borg El Arab Airport
Description:
Alexandria Borg al-Arab Airport is located 40 km southwest of the city center. It is now the main airport of Alexandria and all the surrounding areas along the Nile Delta.
Since December 2011, Borg al-Arab has assumed the entire load of passenger transportation instead of the airport closed for reconstruction. To implement the new tasks, a lot of work was done to improve and modernize the passenger terminal. As a result, today the airport consists of new passenger and administrative buildings.
The architectural solution of the passenger terminal looks very original – like a boat made of glass and modern metal structures. The airport building is made in three levels. The first is reserved for baggage processing and check-in, the second for arrivals halls and airline offices, the third is designed for departing passengers.
Despite the relatively small size of the airport, there is a duty-free shop, a cafe, a travel agency, a convenient waiting room. In front of the building there is a parking lot for 350 cars.
