Aswan

Philae temple

Red Sea, Egypt

Description:

The temple of Isis is located on the island of Philae, this building is interesting not only for tourists, but also for archaeologists. The temple was built in 350 BC during the Ptolemaic era. Twice a day, tourists can see the lights that tell the history of the place.

This and several other sanctuaries on the island have been affected by flooding. All because of the Great Aswan Dam, built by the British. During the flood, the tomb of Osiris was lost. To preserve something, the structure was dismantled and transported to the island of Ajilkia, where an exact copy was made.

You can get by feluga from the city of Aswan. Aswan itself has regular bus services from Hurghada.
