Wadi El Sebua Temple

140 km south of Aswan

Description:

Wadi El Sebua Temple is one of the most beautiful sights of Egypt. In front of the temple there is an alley of sphinxes, so the name of the temple is translated from Arabic as “Valley of lions”.

The temple is partly built of stones, but the inner sanctuary is actually carved into the rock. According to legend, Osiris himself, with the help of dead souls, placed the sanctuary in the rock.

Initially, the temple had three towers, but only two of them survived. The first, leading to the courtyard decorated with statues of Ramesses II and the second, opening the gaze into the second courtyard, which is decorated with monuments of Ramesses - the great pharaoh and Osiris - the king of the afterlife.

You can climb to the top of the towers to enjoy spectacular views of the surrounding landscape with desert and lake.

The temple is located 150 kilometers from the greatest city of Aswan, near Lake Nasser.
