Aswan Darow Airport

Aswan International Airport is also known as Daraw Airport. It is located 16 kilometers southwest of the Egyptian city of Aswan.

On March 20, 1969, a tragedy occurred at Aswan Airport when an Il-18 plane crashed while trying to land. 100 of the 105 passengers were killed.

In 2008, 1,106,863 passengers used Aswan Airport, a record (the previous record was 870,000).

With the beginning of the Arab Spring, the airport experienced a crisis - ticket sales decreased by 64 percent.
