Description:
In the Valley of the Kings, you should visit the mortuary temple of Merenptah, which belongs to the City of the Dead. Previously, it was a religious complex in which every little thing was thought out. Only its ruins and statues have survived.
The remains of the temple were found in the early 20th century. Scientists were able to reconstruct what the temple looked like at the time of its creation. To enter, it was necessary to pass through a large gate, in the courtyard there were two rows of columns - six on each side. To the left stood the king’s brick palace and the giant stele of Israel. The latter was built in honor of Merenptah and his valiant military exploits. In the second courtyard you can see the bust of Merenptah from the fallen statue. You could walk into the halls from the yard. At the end were three sanctuaries where sacred objects were kept and sacrifices were made. The temple was decorated with gold and tiles, a brick wall was erected around it. The ruins of the temple will give you the opportunity to touch the history of ancient Egypt.
