Ras Mohammed National Park
Description:
Ras Mohammed National Park is the pride of Egypt. It is located along the coast in the southern part of the Sinai Peninsula. It is only 25 kilometers from the famous resort - Sharm el-Sheikh.
The park was founded in 1964, covers an area of about 260 thousand hectares. On the territory of the reserve you can see how coral reefs rose above sea level in natural conditions. The reefs are about 2 billion years old. The reefs begin 6 meters from the water’s edge and resemble fabulous forests of hard and soft corals. Here you can see coral fish (graper, amphitrion clown, parrot fish, hedgehog fish), sea lilies, starfish, sea urchins and other underwater inhabitants of the warm sea.
Ras Mohammed Park is home to many terrestrial fauna. These are foxes, gazelles, reptiles, migratory birds (white storks). Magnificent mangroves provide birds with excellent conditions for breeding offspring.
Not to mention Magic Bay, another beautiful place of Ras Mohammed. The water in it is much saltier than the sea, because of the unique salt springs. The water of the bay is similar in chemical composition to the water of the Dead Sea and has a beneficial effect on the human body.
