Guilds
Description:
After Tallinn received the right of Lübeck in 1248, it became a free merchant city. All power is concentrated in the hands of merchants and wholesalers. The whole community of Tallinn was divided into separate estate organizations, the Guild. There were several of them: in the upper city - the House Guild, in the lower - as many as four: The Great Merchant Guild, the Guild of St. Canute, the Guild of St. Olaf and the guild organization-the Brotherhood of Blackheads. They all had their own homes and a rich history. Recently, another, but already modern Guild-Guild of Katarina was created.
