Walking tour of Tallinn. Peace and quiet at the fortress walls

Friends, I invite you on a tour of Tallinn, during which I will tell you about the fortress walls and towers of this city, when and why they were built.

There is a sea bay given by God and nature, and near the shore there is a rock on which to build a fortress, and there are neighbors in the east and west who want to trade with each other.

There was no city yet, and on the shore there were already trading settlements of Novgorod and Scandinavian merchants. The church towers were clearly visible from the sea and served as a reference point for merchant ships. Caravans of ships reached the harbor, bringing spices, fabrics, grain, wax. The dream of a prosperous trading city has come true!

Thus came my city, a small, cozy Revel, and a belt of fortifications was created to protect this city. The walls and towers, made of gray slabs, grew a formidable and non-criminal fortress.
