Turku Castle

Linnankatu 8020100 Turku, Finland

Description:

Since the XVI century, the castle was almost not used for its intended purpose. First it was converted into a warehouse, and later it was used as a prison.

During World War II, Turku Castle was damaged by bombardments, but due to its historical significance and being one of the largest European medieval castles, it was soon restored.

In its premises there is a historical museum of the city of Turku, where ceramics, medieval jewelry, costumes, furniture and toys are stored. Among the exhibits you can see stone and bronze sculptures of the XVI century.
