"Truth in Wine"
Description:
Wine in Georgia is not just a drink. It is the soul of the country, its history and national treasure. Georgian winemaking technology using clay vessels Kvevri received the status of intangible cultural heritage of UNESCO – and for good reason. This is a unique method, which is thousands of years old, and it is still used in the family of every traditional winemaker.
During our tour, I will teach you to distinguish between wines created using Georgian and European technologies. We will alternate tastings, and by the end of the trip, you will be able to accurately determine how the wine is made.
What is qvevri?
You will not only learn what qvevri is and how wine and chacha are made in it, but you will also see the process with your own eyes. We're going to go to the workshop with a craftsman who continues the family tradition and creates these amazing vessels by hand. There you will taste wine and chacha produced in Kvevri, and learn to recognize the subtle differences between Georgian and European style of winemaking.
It won't just be a wine tour. It will be a real journey into the heart of Georgian culture, where wine is an art.
