Suramadu Bridge

Jalan Tol Suramadu, Surabaya, Indonesia

Description:

One of the attractions of Indonesia is the Suramadou suspension bridge, laid across the Madur Strait between the islands of Java and Madura. It is the longest bridge in the country, its length is 5.5 kilometers, width is 30 meters. Above the surface of the water, the bridge rises 35 meters.

Two-way traffic is carried out on eight lanes. There are also two separate tracks for two-wheeled transport and emergency needs. The speed limit on the bridge is 25 kilometers per hour. On the air platforms there are cameras that record the movement of vehicles.

After the bridge was commissioned in 2009, the load on the shipping and ferry crossings between the islands was significantly reduced. The bridge is of great economic importance for the development of Madura Island, an underdeveloped area in western Indonesia.

Suramadu Bridge is a local landmark. Locals and tourists alike admire its elegant design, especially at night when many lights light up on it.
