1. Tegise is the ancient capital of Lanzarote. Beautiful old town, with churches (especially worth noting the Temple of the Virgin Mary of Guadalupe), palaces of the nobility, spacious stone and brick houses with white walls, a local craft market. Very nice place to wander, see, sit in a restaurant.
2. Here, in Tegiza, is the fortress of Santa Barbara. Built in the 15th century on top of the extinct volcano Guanapai, from the tower of which you can see the landscape of the valley of Tegise, as well as the coast of the island. It is now a museum of Lanzarote’s colonial history.
