To Caesar Manrique's seats!
Description:
(1) The headquarters of the cultural foundation of the artist Caesar Manrique in Taiche is the Caesar Manrique Foundation. This is the house in which the artist himself lived, except for the last few years of his life.
The building is located on five volcanic bubbles of large size and has two levels, and is built around a fig tree bush. And it incorporates the main characteristic features of the artistic concept of Manrique: Art of Nature. Manrique advocated "green" tourism. The area of residential premises is 1800 square meters. The house is a work of art and an architectural ensemble: thanks to the “hands” of Caesar Manrique, underground volcanic bubbles have turned into places to relax with signature white passages. Currently, the main function of the Foundation is a museum. The museum displays Manrique’s contemporary art collection, now owned by the Foundation, as well as several examples of contemporary art from the Canary Islands. In addition, there are three halls dedicated to the work of Caesar Manrique. The lower floor consists of five volcanic bubbles of natural origin, connected by passages embossed in the lava. In one of the halls you will see an unusual window through which a frozen flow of lava flows into the room, allowing the interior of the building to flow harmoniously into the outside! The entrance fee is 8 euros per person.
