San Miguel Market

Market of San Miguel, Plaza de San Miguel, S/n, 28005, Madrid, Spain

Description:

The central Madrid market of San Miguel has existed for more than 200 years, and still gathers under its roof hundreds of buyers and traders. The square itself, on which the market originated, was born due to a terrible fire in the 18th century. After the Napoleonic occupation was lifted and the ruins of the ashes were dismantled, fruits and vegetables began to be traded in the open air. A hundred years later, a metal roof was built over the market in 1916.

Most recently, the San Miguel market was going to be liquidated, but local entrepreneurs bought it in time. Today, this market is a real temple of gastronomy here are several dozen shops selling a variety of exclusive products.
