Cathedral

Av de la Constituci & oacute n, 0, 41001 Sevilla, Spain.

Description:

The Cathedral in Seville is the largest basilica in Spain, and the third largest in the Christian world.

Construction of the cathedral began in 1401 and lasted a total of 4 centuries. At the place where the temple now stands, originally in Spain was the largest mosque.

The cathedral is a rectangle built in neo-Gothic style, 116 meters long and 76 meters wide. The interior decoration of the basilica amazes with its splendor, and the values stored there are not amenable to material expression: examples of mudejar art, plateresco style grilles, copper images, icons, jewelry, paintings, Gothic carvings and more.

The temple can be accessed through any of the nine gates, the main of which is the gate on the side of Avenida de la Constitución, built in 1885.

By the way, in the Cathedral buried the remains of Christopher Columbus, they are in the right wing of the transept. In addition, the cathedral became the resting place of Cardinal Cervantes, Alfonso X the Wise, dona Maria de Padilla, Pedro the Cruel.

Of particular historical and cultural value is the Hall of the Capital, made in all the splendor of the Renaissance, here you will see the works of marble made by Marcos Cabrera, and the beautiful Immaculate Conception, one of the masterpieces of Murillo.
