Gibraltar + Tarifa - Spain
Description:
Gibraltar is a rock peninsula, whose height is 426 m above sea level, and it is connected by a narrow isthmus 1.5 km long with the Iberian Peninsula. It got its name from the changed Arabic name Jebel al-Tarik, which means “mountain of Tariq”, in honor of the leader of the tribe of Moors who captured it in the VI century.
Initially, as early as 1713, Gibraltar was a British colony and only in 1967, at the grant of Queen Elizabeth II, it gained independence in self-government on a variety of issues besides financial stability, foreign policy and security, as well as its own constitution. Further developments led to the fact that the UK and Gibraltar joined the EU, in connection with which it received a special status. Gibraltar has a population of about 29,000, of which about 20,000 are indigenous Gibraltars, who in turn are descendants of immigrants from Spain, England, Malta and Genoa.
Since the beginning of the XIX century, the city has established its own production of intoxicating alcoholic beverages, so you can see a large number of different bars and pubs here. The main attraction is the Rock itself and to see all its splendor, you need to go through the main street to the South Gate to get to the funicular, from the cabin of which there is an amazing view of the city itself.

Tarifa, Spain - a municipality and town, located in the southern part of the country, is part of the already known autonomous community of Andalusia. Its population is small - 17 768 people according to 2010 data. The history of the city begins with ancient times, and the name it received after the invasion of the Arabs on the territory of Spain honor Tarif ibn Malucca - the first Muslim who set foot in 710 on Spanish soil. Tarifa Spain, as I wrote above, is located in the south, and it is called the capital of the winds. Ask why? And because the city is located in the Strait of Gibraltar, exactly in the place where the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea meet. Perhaps, largely due to this Tarifa attracts many tourists and surfers. In addition, windsurfing championships are held in the city every year.
