Walking through the Square of Miracles and the streets of Pisa
Description:
There is only one place in Tuscany where the whole story is in the name – the city of Pisa.
The ambitious Sea Power decided to express its tastes and wealth in the construction of the Cathedral Square of the city using the most expensive material - snow-white marble.
Today, the constructions on the Square of Miracles are silent witnesses to the prosperity of the grand maritime republic of the Middle Ages, its strength, faith and aspiration for eternity.
You will see: the Cathedral (la Cattedrale), Battistery (il Battistero) - the city baptismarium, the monumental cemetery of Campo Santo (il Camposanto Monumentale), famous for its works of art of the early Renaissance. Each of them is like an open book of the Middle Ages, full of symbols and mysteries.
You will hear the most secret story of the “Falling Tower” (la Torre Pendente), an architectural wonder that for more than eight centuries has caused admiration and questions. After the tour, you can climb the tower and look at Pisa from the height of its legend.
At your request, we can walk along the Square of Miracles (without visiting monuments) and continue with a walk around the city to the elegant Piazza dei Cavalieri, see the shopping street via Borgo Stretto, the street of tower houses (via delle belle Torri), the embankment of the Arno River with palaces of the XV century, which still keep the secrets of their owners.
