Description:

On March 28, 1483, a boy was born in the city of Urbino, who was destined to become a genius and one of the greatest artists of the Popes. Today, the Vatican houses the world’s largest collection of Raphael’s works. In 1508, the son of a court artist studied in Florence, where he came close to another genius of his time - Leonardo da Vinci and won the sympathy of the richest patrons. But his life will forever change the messenger, who brought a letter with the coat of arms of the Vatican.

Pope Julius II wanted the young man to come to Rome and take the post of court painter. Raphael, who immediately went to the Eternal City, did not yet know that he would have to fight fiercely for the right to be a papal artist.

A young and talented craftsman, he will conquer Rome with his skill. Then the love that filled his heart will be reflected in the images of Madonnas, both divine and earthly. And finally, Raphael’s genius will blossom with such force that it seems that nature will not withstand the competition. The artist’s life will end very early, it is in the Vatican that his last work, on which he worked a few hours before his death, will remain.

The tour will include Pinakothek with a retrospective exhibition of Raphael’s works, characterizing all three periods of his work. Then, through the papal galleries, we will pass to the Stanzas of Raphael, in these halls there is a fresco “The School of Athens”, considered the best work of the painter, and here, in the former chambers of Pope Julius II, the past five centuries have not carried into the past the sparkling atmosphere of rivalry between Raphael and Michelangelo, whose Sistine Chapel is located several tens of meters away and to which we will also visit.

This tour is suitable for those who want to get acquainted with the work of Raphael, discover his talent and understand the formula of perfect beauty, which the master wrote in his work.
