The Pantheon Fountain

Description:

The Pantheon Fountain was commissioned by Pope Gregory XIII and is located on Piazza della Rotonda, Rome, in front of the Roman Pantheon. It was designed by Giacomo della Porta in 1575 from marble.

In 1711, Pope Clement XI changed the appearance of the fountain - various pools made of stone were made, and the Macuteo obelisk created during the period of Ramses II.

In 1886, the original numerals of marble were removed and replaced by copies by Luigi's Amici. Today, the originals can be seen in the Museum of Rome.
