Trevi Fountain

Piazza di Trevi, Via della Stamperia, Roma, Italy

Description:

Travelers who have had the opportunity to contemplate this magnificent work of art, literally freeze with admiration, amazed by its incredible beauty and monumentality. The Trevi Fountain is the most famous fountain of the Eternal City. The dimensions of this massive composition are 20 meters wide and 26 in height, occupying almost the entire area. It was created on the basis of sketches by Bernini, one of the main hobbies of which was the creation of theatrical effects. The Trevi Fountain is so popular with residents of Rome and tourists that a small square resembles an amphitheater filled to capacity by spectators, the scene of which is an amazing composition of the fountain, in the center of which is the god Ocean in a shell-cart drawn by two seahorses. Tritons show them the way between the rocks. The bottom of the fountain is dotted with coins - legend says that those who want to return to Rome must throw a coin with their right hand over their left shoulder, and stand with their backs to the fountain. Another tourist tradition is to drink water from the “pipes of lovers” located on the right side of the fountain.
