Place de la Venezia
Piazza Venezia, 00186 Rome, Italy
Description:
Piazza Venezia is named after the grand Palace of Venice, located in the heart of Rome. The square is located at the foot of the Capitol Hill, near the famous Roman Forum. In ancient times, this place was part of one of the most important transport routes, the Flaminian Road and the Servius Wall intersected here. Piazza Venice itself began to form in the middle of the fifteenth century, when the Embassy of the Republic of Venice moved to the built palace. Subsequently, the square changed its shape due to new buildings - in the middle of the sixteenth century, the Palazzo Bonaparte was built here, and at the end of the eighteenth - a monument to Victor Emmanuel II.
Today, Piazza Venice is a popular tourist destination, with many events taking place here.
