Piazza di Sant'Egidio, 1, 00153 Roma
About the company:
The Museum of Rome in Trastevere is dedicated to the daily life of citizens in the XVIII-XIX centuries.
The Trastevere area occupies the eastern slope of the Janicul hill. The museum is located in the building of the former Carmelite monastery, which ceased to exist after the unification of Italy. In 1875, the building became part of the Roman commune. In 1918, a sanatorium was located here. It was not until 1970 that the building was transferred to the Museum of Roman Poets and Folklore after restoration. After that, the collection of materials that could tell visitors about the life and culture of Rome bygone eras began.
Currently, the museum holds concerts and performances in the newly built concert hall. Exhibitions are also held here. Among the interesting objects of the permanent exhibition are the "Roman Walls" - recreated with the help of mannequins and works of Bartolomeo Pitelli, the life of the Romans in the XIX century.
