Florian Cafe
Piazza San Marco, 30124 Venezia, Italy
About the company:
Cafe Florian is one of the most romantic places in Venice. Opened in 1720, the cafe is located in one of the central squares of the city and has a rich history. According to legend, its walls witnessed Giacomo Casanova’s encounters with his many ladies.
In addition to the famous heartthrob, visitors to Florian were other eminent guests: Goldoni, Byron, Proust, Dickens, Modigliani, Stravinsky and Joseph Brodsky. And Henry James sat at his table the hero of his novel “Letters of Aspen”.
You can sit for a cup of “golden” coffee (a cup can cost from 10 to 20 euros) both in the interior halls (they are located behind each other) and at a table on the street. The interior sparkles with rich gilding, strikes with bizarre stucco and canvases in luxurious frames. On the days of the Venice Biennale, exhibitions of modern art are arranged in the halls of the cafe.
