Port of Stazione Marittima
Description:
The seaport of Stazione Marittima, located in Venice, is one of the largest in the country, its cargo turnover is more than 21 million tons per year. It was founded in 1914 as a small organization for the reception of merchant ships, but soon with the development of tourism, it began to grow rapidly, and already in 1955 it accepted not only cargo ships, but also passenger ships.
In 2005, the complete restoration of Stazione Marittima was carried out – the berth and the adjacent area were repaired, and the latest navigation systems were installed at the terminals.
Now the port provides many services related to the transportation of passengers and cargo, among them the main ones are loading, unloading and maintenance of ships, as well as ticket sales and cruise registration. In 2015, it is planned to make a deepening of the bottom, so that the port could receive ships of any size. For this purpose, investors are being actively sought.
The infrastructure of Stazione Marittima is developed quite well, here you can find cafes, restaurants, shops and cozy relaxation rooms. A private security agency operates at the port to ensure the safety of passengers.
