St. Moses Bridge

Calle Larga XXII Marzo, 30124 Venezia, Italy

Description:

The bridge of St. Moses is interesting primarily for its location. It is the link between Calle Larga XXII and the square in front of San Mois Cathedral.

This bridge is one of the oldest in Venice. Under its curved arch there is perhaps the busiest pier, where gondolas dock and leave without a break. Despite the fact that the place here is quite narrow, gondoliers with enviable dexterity manage their boats, avoiding collisions. Tourists are constantly crowded on the bridge, filming this “Brownian movement” in photos and videos.

If, standing on the bridge, turn towards the square of San Marco, you will see the magnificent facade of the Baroque church of the XIV century. The church is named after St. Moses, as is the bridge next to it. The number of stone ornaments on the facade of the cathedral defies counting and description - so the sculptor Enrico Meiring wanted to emphasize the huge wealth of the Fini family, on whose order the cathedral was rebuilt. If you photograph the cathedral, standing on the bridge, you can capture the entire facade completely.

On the opposite side of the bridge begins Calle Larga XXII Marzo. Lovers of high-quality and fashionable things strive here. The street is filled with boutiques of the most famous world brands. It can be considered the most popular shopping street in Venice.
